Moroccan actor Amin Radi brought the abaya controversy in France back to the forefront, after the Queen of Britain appeared in it during her visit to the Elysee Palace, as part of her visit to France.
In a video he shared with his followers on Instagram, Fal Al Radi said that the Queen of Britain wore the abaya in the palace and no one said a word or commented on the matter, at a time when France prohibits wearing it in schools and educational institutions.
The same speaker was surprised by the decision issued regarding loose clothing, saying in his comment: “If any of you understand the issue, please explain it to me. The abaya is allowed in palaces and prohibited in schools. I do not know whether to cry, laugh, or sleep.”
Reactions are still coming to the French government’s decision to ban the wearing of the abaya in schools, under the pretext that it is a garment that conflicts with the principles of secularism in the country. The French Council for the Islamic Religion saw the decision as “arbitrary,” at a time when the French Minister of Education called for wearing a uniform in government schools.
