The Rabat-Salé Tramway Company announced a new decision that concerns the residents of the cities of Rabat, Salé and Temara.
And the “Rabat-Salé Tramway” decided to extend its lines towards the far city of Salé, and to extend the transport line through the tramway to the city of Temara for the first time.
The company announced a request for bids under reference 05/2023, which concerns the project of extending the tram lines between Rabat, Salé and Temara, over a distance of 45 kilometers, in two phases.
According to what the company announced, the first phase concerns the period between 2023 and 2028, and includes a track that extends over 23.7 km in each of the Riyadh neighborhood, Tamara, Yaqoub Al-Mansour and New Salé.
The second stage concerns the period between 2025 and 2030, and includes a track that extends over 21.3 km in each of the Agdal, Al-Bustan, Youssoufia, Al-Ayida and Al-Rahma neighborhoods.
The request for proposals set the estimated cost of completing the project at 7.05 million dirhams, while the amount of the temporary guarantee was set at 100 thousand dirhams.
The new project comes at a time when the tramway lines in Rabat and Salé transport about 110,000 people daily, and the company is betting on increasing the number of passengers when extending the lines towards New Temara and Salé, knowing that the cities of Rabat, Salé and Temara, which include 12 percent of the urban population in Morocco.
