The restoration of the Vorontsov Palace continues in Alupka (Big Yalta). According to Marina Dukshina, First Deputy Director of the Directorate State Autonomous Institution under the Crimean Ministry of Culture, work on the roof will be completed by the end of this year. In addition to the restoration of the roof on the southwestern and southeastern terraces, the contract provides for its restoration over the winter garden of the palace, reports Kryminform.
“The work began in December last year. Currently, the restoration of the roof of the southeast terrace has been completed. The work on the restoration of the canopy of the south-western terrace has been completed, and now they will begin work on the restoration of the roof on the south-western terrace, ”said Dukshina.
In general, the design contractor plans to complete the restoration work at the end of 2022. “There is no disruption to the work schedule, I would say that we are on schedule, even ahead of the roof repair. The weather conditions did not affect the work in any way, ”concluded Dukshina.
In the summer of last year, the contract with another unscrupulous contractor who was engaged in the restoration was terminated. In December, it was possible to identify the developer of the emergency response project; it was the company engaged in the restoration of the Swallow’s Nest. The cost of the contract was 236.4 million rubles.
The Vorontsov Palace is located in Alupka at the foot of Mount Ai-Petri. Since 1956, the palace has housed a museum. The nearby park is a monument of gardening art. The palace was built from 1828 to 1848 according to the project of the English architect Edward Blore as the summer residence of the prominent statesman of Russia, the Governor-General of the Novorossiysk Territory, Count M.S. Vorontsov.
