The modest results in the past rounds of the ADNOC Professional League have placed the Khorfakkan and Ittihad Kalba teams in the danger zone that threatens them with relegation to the first division, while enhancing the chances of the Emirates team (the Falcons) to remain among the seniors for another season after scoring valuable points.
Khor Fakkan and Ittihad Kalba are ranked 11th and 12th, respectively, with 21 points, and four matches remaining for each of them, while the “Falcons” have 14 points, and have six matches remaining, which means that they may reduce the difference with them to one point if they win their two postponed matches.
Mathematically, the Emirates team needs to win all of its remaining matches against Shabab Al-Ahly, Al-Bataeh, Al-Ain, Al-Jazira, and Al-Nasr, in exchange for either Ittihad Kalba or Khor Fakkan losing one match, to benefit from the difference in confrontations between it and the Khor Fakkan and Kalba teams.
The “Falcons” had won over Ittihad Kalba, as well as over Khor Fakkan, in the home and away matches, during the direct confrontations.
Technically, it does not seem impossible for the Emirates team to remain in the spotlight, after the team’s improved performance in recent matches and its ability to score goals.
For his part, international lecturer Omar Al-Hammadi told Emirates Al-Youm, “The Falcons’ mission seems more available than before, especially since the league is on its way to the end, and some teams may play their matches with the aim of improving positions.”
On the other hand, Khor Fakkan succeeded in gaining a valuable point in the match in which it tied against Al Jazira (3-3), compensating for its loss by an administrative decision against Ajman. Without it, the task would have become more difficult, while Kalba scored one point in the last three matches it played, after two losses to Shabab Al-Ahly 1-4, Al-Emirates 1-2, and a draw with Al-Nasr 2-2.
Kalba awaits four difficult matches against Al Ain, Al Wasl, Baniyas and Khor Fakkan, while Khor Fakkan will play against Al Nasr, Sharjah, Al Wahda and Kalba.
It is noteworthy that those ranked 13th and 14th are relegated at the end of the league to the ranks of first-class clubs.
