The Russian Embassy in Iran commented on the explosion at the plant of the Ministry of Defense in Isfahan. The statement was posted on the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission on Sunday, January 29.
First of all, the diplomatic department reported that they were guided by the official statement of the Ministry of Defense and Support of the Armed Forces (AF) of Iran that on the evening of January 28 at about 23:30 an attack was carried out using drones on one of the production facilities of this department in the city of Isfahan.
It is specified that as a result of the operation of the air defense system (air defense), one drone was shot down, two more devices were intercepted and destroyed.
There was no information about the injured citizens of the Russian Federation as a result of this incident.
“There was no information about the victims among Russian citizens. All Russian foreign missions in Iran are operating as usual,” the diplomats said.
The embassy added that they continue to closely monitor the situation and are in touch with other Russian organizations in Iran.
“We are carefully analyzing media reports about similar incidents in other cities of Iran. We are in constant contact with the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Rasht and Isfahan, as well as other Russian organizations,” the ministry said.
A powerful explosion rocked a military factory in Isfahan earlier in the day. A spokesman for the plant’s security service said there were no casualties in the explosion at the Iranian Defense Ministry’s ammunition plant.
It was noted that the attack caused minor damage.
