Madrid (EFE).- The sale of antigen tests in pharmacies for the detection of covid-19 has increased by 556 percent between August 28 and September 3, compared to the last week of June, according to the data provided this Friday by the consulting firm IQVIA.
The study, carried out in 6,500 pharmacies, reveals that in week 35 (from August 28 to September 3) more than 556,000 antigen tests have been sold throughout Spain, coinciding with the increase in detected covid cases.
By community, Extremadura is where sales have increased the most, with 21,570 units sold and 1,374% compared to those acquired at the end of June, ahead of Castilla-La Mancha (21,066 units and 1,265%), Castilla y León (with 31,024 and a 991% growth) and the Valencian Community (with 78,900 and an increase of 848%).
These are followed by Aragon (with 20,213 tests dispensed and a growth of 815%), the Basque Country (24,792 and 794%), La Rioja (3,511 and 745%), Andalusia (109,495 and 686%), Cantabria (6,085 and an increase of 643%), Murcia (12,141 and 570%), Navarra (3,569 and 499%), Madrid (52,331 and 467%) and Catalonia (83,392 and 348%).
The regions where the sale of antigen tests has grown the least in week 35 have been the Canary Islands, with 11,876 units, which represents an increase of 91%, and Asturias, with 10,339 tests and a growth of 279%.
