The Sharjah Cultural Chess Club announced the details of the seventh edition of the Sharjah Masters International Championship, via the video chat program (Zoom), in the presence of Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the tournament, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club. Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi stressed that the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club is keen to implement the innovative initiatives pursued by the UAE to benefit from high technological capabilities and to provide a healthy work environment for the club’s members and help them work with high efficiency and complete comfort.
Al Qasimi said during the meeting, which was attended by local media, that the Sharjah Masters Championship this year will witness a major shift in the number and quality of participants, as nearly 300 male and female players from 60 countries have been approved to participate, including more than 160 male and female players with international titles: to compete. The prizes for the tournament, which begins tomorrow, Tuesday, and continues until May 22, amount to 65,000 US dollars.
The seventh edition of the Sharjah Masters Championship organizes three tournaments, at the forefront of which is the Masters Championship with the participation of 90 male and female players holding international titles and high rankings, including 15 players who have previously achieved the World Championship title in various categories. The Challenge Championship is also held with the participation of 104 international grand masters. International professors, International Federation professors, and 100 promising players participate in the Future Championship.
The tournament director, Abdullah Murad Al-Mazmi, tournament director, revealed that the process of selecting participants in all tournaments continued for three months to choose the best, noting that the tournament has become the focus of interest and attention of senior players and is considered one of the strongest open world tournaments currently.
