The situation is sinking and the players are stopping training
Fez: Reda Hamdallah
Yesterday, Maghreb-Fez football players went on strike against the training programmed by its coach, Tarek Sketioui, in preparation for the match against Raja Casablanca tomorrow, Wednesday, in the 17th round of the First National Group Championship, in protest against the non-payment of their salaries and financial dues pending with the team’s management office.
The players found themselves in an unenviable situation after the payment of their salaries was normally delayed for a period of time, without finding an addressee to whom they could convey their protest in the hope that their social circumstances, their bearing of expenses, and the obligation of some of them to pay installments of accumulated bank debts would be taken into consideration, before they resorted to refusing to participate in the training session yesterday.
The anger of the players came after the team’s financial situation worsened and the public was forced to subscribe and collect sums of money to cover the costs of purchasing gasoline for its bus in the previous session to secure its transportation to the city of Tetouan, from which it returned with a valuable victory at the expense of Moghreb Tetouan before faltering in the last session against FUS Rabat at home.
The players’ uprising comes a few hours before they leave for the city of Casablanca to play their match against Raja Casablanca, expected tomorrow, Wednesday, while the team’s fans launched a call to city officials to intervene to save what can be saved and find a solution to the financial problem that is troubling it and making its future ambiguous.
