The forest fire situation has aggravated in the JAR. The regional government held an emergency meeting with the participation of representatives of all relevant departments. It was initiated by the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Alexei Shaposhnikov, Acting Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, took part in the discussion of the organization of preparations for the fire season, EAOMedia news agency clarifies.
He stressed that the fire season has already begun in the Oktyabrsky and Leninsky districts. Satellites fix natural fires in other municipalities. The main threat is the burning of dry vegetation.
In this regard, local governments were instructed to complete the work on cleaning the territories from garbage and dried grass, as well as from combustible waste. Around settlements, it is necessary to renovate fire-prevention mineralized strips with a width of at least 10 m and organize the possibility of using sources of external fire-fighting water supply.
Earlier, on March 20, it was reported that a forest fire was extinguished in the Khiloksky district of the Trans-Baikal Territory. The fire covered an area of 23 hectares. Since the beginning of the fire season in Transbaikalia, 12 forest fires have already been extinguished. The total burning area exceeded 370 hectares.
