The first regional modern sailing competition for the Special Olympics will begin in the waters of the Dubai Islands, starting today, and will continue until next Sunday, with the participation of 6 national teams from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Morocco, and Syria, in addition to our national team.
The event is organized by the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, with the support of the Dubai Sports Council, in partnership with the Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa, the UAE Special Olympics, and under the supervision of the Emirates Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation.
During a press conference held at the W Dubai Hotel – Mina Seyahi, yesterday, the Supreme Organizing Committee of the event revealed the latest preparations, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Special Olympics and Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mohammed Al Nuaimi, said that the UAE Special Olympics is looking forward, through its plans and programs, to highlight the creativity of… The champions are people of determination in the Special Olympics, pointing out that the new competition would add a lot by discovering exceptional talents in this forum, wishing success to the members of the national team.
Member of the Board of Directors of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, Khalid bin Dasmal, said that the Dubai International Marine Sports Club has completed all preparations to begin the stages of the competition, which coincides with the beginning of the new sports season 2024-2025, where the competitions will be held in the most beautiful urban destination on the beaches of Dubai, among the islands of Dubai. In turn, the Secretary-General of the UAE Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation, Mohammed Al Obaidli, said that his federation is happy with the fruitful partnership between the Dubai International Club and the UAE Special Olympics, the results of which were demonstrated in the implementation of this unique competition that is being held for the first time.
