The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, one of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, congratulated the Arab countries and Arab athletes who won medals in the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games (Paris 2024), and appreciated their great efforts that culminated in them ascending the podiums in the largest global event, and registering their names and the names of their countries in the records of historical achievements in the tournament.
According to a press release, the award invited sports winners from Arab countries to nominate themselves for the award in its 13th session, which has begun receiving nominations for individual, group and institutional achievements, “as the award greatly appreciates the winners of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which represent the pinnacle of sports competition and a major event held once every four years. Many champions who won medals in the Olympic and Paralympic Games have been honored during the award’s sessions since its first session in 2009.”
Arab sports achieved good achievements during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, where athletes won 17 medals in the Olympic Games in Paris, including two golds, a silver and a bronze for Bahrain, two golds and a bronze for Algeria, a gold, a silver and a bronze for each of Egypt and Tunisia, a gold and a bronze for Morocco, a silver for Jordan, and a bronze for Qatar. Meanwhile, Arab athletes won a distinguished number of medals in the Paralympic Games in Paris, amounting to 55 diverse medals. Algeria came in first among Arab countries, winning 6 gold medals out of 11 medals, while Tunisia came in second place in the Arab world, winning five gold medals. Morocco came in third place among Arab countries, with its athletes winning three gold medals out of 15 medals of all kinds and for various sports. Individual athletes, including players, coaches, referees and administrators, can apply for the award, along with teams and institutions at the UAE and Arab level. International institutions can also compete to win the award at the global level.
