Traumatologist-orthopedist, deputy chief physician of the Ilya Trukhanov Clinic in Kurkino (KIT) Rashid Belhamidi explained the reasons for the growth of “bones” on the legs.
In an interview with Gazeta.Ru on Wednesday, July 19, the specialist pointed out that any deformation has a reason. Most often, Hallux valgus, or hallux valgus deformity of the first toe, occurs in women. Usually the disease develops against the background of transverse flat feet.
The formation and growth of “bones” can increase in three periods: puberty, pregnancy and postmenopause, the 360 TV channel notes.
Also, foot deformity is often found in those who are professionally engaged in figure skating, rhythmic gymnastics or ballet. In addition, Belhamidi noted, there are systemic diseases in which nodules form on the feet and hands, such as gout or rheumatoid arthritis.
The orthopedist explained that there are four degrees of valgus deformity of the foot, depending on the angle of displacement of the first toe. The first is swelling on the outside of the big toe, but without pain. At the last stage, the “bump” becomes such a size that the finger almost completely overlaps the neighboring one. A person feels pain while walking and while resting.
The doctor advised me to take a responsible approach to the choice of shoes for foot health. So, he called for minimizing the wearing of shoes with heels and shoes with non-fixed unstable soles, for example, ugg boots and flip flops.
In addition, individual orthopedic insoles can be used to prevent hallux valgus deformity of the big toe.
In April, dietitian Elena Solomatina spoke about the benefits of flaxseed oil for the elderly. According to her, it contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids that improve the condition of blood vessels, as well as prevent heart attacks and strokes. At the same time, flaxseed oil reduces the level of inflammation, alleviates the course and symptoms of arthritis and any joint diseases, writes RT.
In February, an allergist-immunologist at the Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, RCCH, Russian National Research Medical University. N.I. Pirogov of the Ministry of Health of Russia Ekaterina Lagutina called Izvestia the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis in children.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, autoinflammatory joint disease lasting more than six weeks that develops in children under the age of 16, she said.
The disease is represented by two main forms. The first is articular, which affects the joints or, less commonly, the eyes. The second is systemic, when the joints, hematopoiesis, internal organs, skin are affected, and a persistent increase in body temperature up to 38–40 degrees is often noted.
In March 2021, American experts concluded that eye problems could indicate arthritis. According to their data, inflammatory processes affect collagen, which is the main component of connective tissue. Since the sclera and cornea are made of collagen, rheumatoid arthritis can manifest itself, in particular, through dry keratitis, also known as “dry eye syndrome”, writes HCH.
Previously, the site kp.ru, with reference to the general practitioner Mikhail Lystsov, listed the symptoms of gout. These include attacks of acute arthritis, the formation of tophi – gouty nodes, kidney damage. In men, the disease occurs between the ages of 30 and 40, most often the disease affects the big toes and joints of the foot. In women, the disease manifests itself in old age and in the postmenopausal state. Most often, the joints of the hands are affected, tophi are formed.
Earlier, general practitioner George Sapego advised people with rheumatoid arthritis to eat fish oil, which contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. According to the doctor, fish oil also improves the functioning of the cardiovascular system, the Zvezda TV channel notes. Sapego noted that among the popular sources of fat are canned cod liver, herring, tuna. It can also be obtained from biologically active food supplements.
