His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, headed the United Arab Emirates delegation participating in the 37th meeting of the Committee of His Highness and Excellencies the Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the presence of His Excellency Ghanem Al Hajri, Director General of the General Sports Authority, and representatives from the youth and sports sectors. Which was held in the sister State of Qatar.
The meeting discussed many topics on the agenda related to unifying efforts and future aspirations within the framework of supporting Gulf youth and empowering them in various fields, and working to build qualitative partnerships that contribute to developing programs and events related to enhancing youth capabilities within a common and sustainable development process for future generations.
His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi said, “The UAE’s well-established methodology in supporting and empowering youth embodies the vision of the wise leadership by providing all the necessary tools to inspire young people and motivate them to achieve their goals and aspirations, and based on a clear and firm belief that they constitute the pillar of society’s development and cohesion, young people find in Its vastness is a fertile ground for transforming their energies into real power, as the UAE’s investment in its youth is not limited to providing job opportunities only, but extends to high-level education, developing skills, and supporting entrepreneurship and innovation, which gives them the ability to excel in various fields.”
His Excellency added: “The UAE has always been keen to unify efforts to advance youth work and enhance the role of youth in the Gulf development process. Cooperation between our countries represents a fundamental foundation for achieving our aspirations, as through exchanging experiences and enhancing joint educational and professional opportunities for our youth, we can move forward in Building our societies on strong and sustainable foundations, stressing: The UAE welcomes the establishment of meaningful partnerships between institutions and organizations in the public and private sectors in the GCC countries, to come up with qualitative initiatives that contribute to building national cadres capable of achieving achievements.”
During the meeting, the committee discussed many priority items for developing joint Gulf youth work, and at its beginning was the item “structuring the technical committees affiliated with the Committee of Ministers of Youth and Sports in the GCC countries,” and the future work plan of the Committee of Ministers of Youth and Sports in the GCC countries for the years (2024-2030), in order to achieve For the directives of the wise leadership in developing joint work in the field of youth through organizing a number of joint Gulf programmes, events and annual activities, which are directly concerned with empowering young people, training them and refining their talents in all fields, and acquiring leadership skills to raise their level of performance, solve problems, overcome challenges, and exchange distinguished expertise and experiences. Among member states, highlighting successful Gulf youth models, and other lofty goals within the framework of supporting youth.
The agenda of the 37th session meeting included discussing an item on unified Gulf projects in the field of youth work, the “Gulf Youth Development Index,” in order to determine work priorities for translating general concepts into practical and scientific plans and programs aimed at caring for youth, and striving to develop policies, unify and bring systems, legislation and other aspects closer together. Guiding frameworks for youth within the framework of joint Gulf action, in coordination with the ministries of youth and sports in the GCC countries, so that the proposals received will be presented to the next meeting of the committee of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Excellencies the Ministers of Youth and Sports in the GCC countries to choose topics of priority and common interest.
The youth of the nation received valuable awards during the ceremony honoring workers in the field of youth work for the year 2024 in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was held on the sidelines of the meeting, in exchange for their distinguished efforts in supporting and developing youth and society, as this initiative comes within the framework of encouraging creativity and excellence in the field of Youth work, and enhancing the role of youth in building a bright future for the region.
The honor included awarding the Second Class Cooperation Council Medal of Excellence in the “Youth Leadership Category” to Jassim Al-Obaidli and Nasser Al-Zaabi, and in the “Creative and Distinguished Youth” category to Sheikha Al-Khateri and Najla Al-Naqbi.
