The Executive Council of the Asian Horseracing Federation chose the UAE to represent the federation in the Horse Welfare and Safety Committee of the International Federation of Horseracing.
This came during a meeting of the Executive Council of the Continental Federation in Hong Kong, with the participation of the country’s delegation headed by Board Member, Director General of the Emirates Horse Racing Authority and Vice President of the Asian Horse Racing Federation, Mohammed Al Shehhi.
At its meeting, the Executive Council of the Asian Horse Racing Federation reviewed enhancing horse welfare and safety practices, improving standards for organizing races on the Asian continent, and the importance of developing racing infrastructure, in addition to enhancing cooperation among members to achieve sustainable goals for this ancient sport.
Al Shehhi stressed that this achievement came thanks to the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He added that the selection of the UAE to represent the Asian Federation in international forums is an affirmation of its pivotal role in shaping the future of horse racing, a global testimony to its leadership, and an important step that highlights its capabilities in leading the path of global development of horse racing, and expresses the organizational and technical capabilities that the country possesses, and the growing confidence of the country. Regional and international partners, and enhances its role as a fundamental pillar in supporting and developing horse racing worldwide.
