The United Nations (UN) opposes any attack on civilian infrastructure. This was announced on Wednesday, June 22, at a briefing by Deputy Spokesman of the Secretary General of the organization Farhan Haq.
“I have no specific comment on this occasion. But obviously, as a general rule, we oppose any attacks from any side against civilians and infrastructure, ”he stressed, commenting on Kyiv’s attacks on oil rigs in the Black Sea.
On Monday, June 20, Ukrainian troops attacked the drilling oil platforms of Chernomorneftegaz of the Odessa field located in the Black Sea. At the time of the attack, there were 109 people on the towers. Of these, 94 people were evacuated, three were injured – they were taken to the hospital. Seven more are missing and the search continues.
On the same day, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case into the incident.
State Duma Deputy from Crimea Mikhail Sheremet pointed out that the attack on the Chornomorneftegaz platforms by Ukraine should be regarded as a terrorist act.
Prior to that, on June 17, Tamila Tasheva, a representative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Crimea, said that the Ukrainian authorities intend to return Crimea by military means. According to her, in the implementation of any plans for the return of Crimea, the Ukrainian military will be the first to enter its territory. In addition, in the event of the return of Crimea, Russians who moved to its territory after reunification with the Russian Federation will be expelled.
On June 15, Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Marchenko told the Ukrainian media that for the Ukrainian army, the bridge between Crimea and the main part of Russia is “the number one goal.”
