Protracted fighting in Ukraine will threaten supply chains in the US military-industrial complex (MIC). This was announced on January 11 by US Secretary of the Navy Carlos del Toro.
“If the fighting continues for another six months to a year, it will definitely have a threatening effect on the supply chain,” he wrote on Twitter.
Del Toro urged arms manufacturers to increase investment in labor and make investments to increase the output of the military-industrial complex.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the West to spare no tanks for Kyiv. He noted that Ukraine expects new joint decisions from Western partners.
Also on January 11, the head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Daniil Getmantsev, calculated how much money each resident of Western countries spent to support Kyiv. So, according to him, each American paid about €184.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the backdrop of a Russian special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow has repeatedly condemned the supply of arms. Back in April, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note to all NATO countries because of the supply of weapons to Kyiv. The head of the department, Sergei Lavrov, in turn, noted that cargoes containing weapons for the Ukrainian army would become a legitimate target for Russia.
