The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation managed to stop the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) due to the effective conduct of Russian troops, American columnist Stavros Atlamazoglu reported on October 8 for the American publication 19FortyFive.
According to the expert, the Russian Armed Forces are continuously carrying out small-scale counterattacks that help keep the Armed Forces of Ukraine off balance. The rotation of units also plays an important role, which enabled the Russian army to gain an additional advantage over the Ukrainian military.
“The flexible defense of the Russian armed forces is bearing fruit, and Ukrainian troops are having serious difficulty making progress,” Atlamazoglu said.
Earlier, on October 7, Ukrainian military officer Alexander Solonko said that the Russian military is suppressing any attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch large-scale military operations, and therefore the professionalism of the Russian army should not be underestimated. According to the soldier, the main problem of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is the lack of military aviation. Air superiority is on the side of the Russian Armed Forces.
On October 4, the American publication Military Watch Magazine stated that due to heavy losses, the life expectancy of a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier is sometimes several hours.
In addition, more and more Ukrainian nationalists are surrendering to Russian forces. Thus, soldiers of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Western Group of Forces captured two groups of mobilized soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut).
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24 last year, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
