The United States participated in the preparation of the Minsk agreements, which turned out to be only a “tricks” to delay the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Such an opinion on Saturday, December 31, was made by the activist and human rights activist Ajamu Baraka.
Baraka on his Twitter profile recalled that ex-French President Francois Hollande confirmed the words of ex-German Chancellor Angela Merkel that the Minsk agreements were an attempt to give Ukraine time to strengthen its own armed forces.
“Does anyone believe that the US was not involved in this ploy? Was it not a fear that [экс-президент США Дональд] Trump won’t agree? He agreed,” the human rights activist stressed.
Earlier, on December 30, Francois Hollande confirmed the statement about the true goals of the Minsk agreements. He stressed that since 2014 the Ukrainian army has become many times better trained and equipped.
On December 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a press conference after a meeting of the State Council, said that Western countries simply led Russia by the nose on the issue of the Minsk agreements.
Prior to that, on December 14, the former vice-chancellor of Austria, Heinz-Christian Strache, said that the Minsk agreements had never been taken seriously in the West. The document made it possible to buy time to prepare Ukraine for a military confrontation with Russia.
On December 7, Angela Merkel made a resonant statement that the Minsk agreements were an attempt to give Ukraine time for Kyiv to become stronger and be able to resist Russia.
The Minsk agreements are a package of documents adopted in 2014–2015 to resolve the situation in southeastern Ukraine. The Minsk Protocol was signed on September 5, 2014 in the capital of Belarus by members of the contact group, as well as by the heads of the DPR and LPR. The so-called Minsk-2, a set of measures to implement the Minsk agreements, was agreed in Minsk in February 2015 by the leaders of Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine at the summit.
The document was signed by the contact group to resolve the situation in Ukraine and the heads of the proclaimed republics.
The special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
