Change on the sports broadcasting market in Poland. The Viplay platform in the announcement announces the exit from our country
It happened in early June reshuffling at the top of Viaplay Group. Jorgen Madsen Lindemann became the new boss and with his arrival an announcement was made new management modelto increase the operational efficiency of the company. In the latest communication, Lindemann announced that Viplay rwill stay with over 25% of its employees. It is already known that the concern will withdraw from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, and will focus on the Scandinavian markets.
We will focus on the Scandinavian markets with a new operating model, the right content selection, the development of our business in the Netherlands, which will soon become profitable, and the sale of our content in foreign markets through Viaplay Select. We focus our attention and resources on markets where we can compete in the long term and ensuring our products are relevant, popular and generate healthy ROI
~ reported Lindemann
The announcement also mentions a possible withdrawal from Poland (similar to the UK, Canada and the US). “NNot all investments in content pay off and have such prospects in the short or medium term. In addition, the race to grow subscribers has come at the expense of value, especially when it comes to our partnership deals,” added Lindemann.
According to the “Wirtualne Media” portal, the company’s new goals are definitely lowerthan those presented a few months ago. At that time, it was planned that the platform at the end of the year would be globally approx 9 million subscribersand is currently estimated at just over 7 million.
We tried to contact the Polish branch of Viaplay in order to get a more accurate picture of the whole situation from their perspective, but so far without success.
