Eta. Farmers troubled by waterlogging in Etah are protesting. Meanwhile, the villagers beat up the Irrigation Department’s XEN who had come to protest. Angry farmers even broke the glass of the vehicle. After this, XEN has lodged an FIR against 10 to 15 people.
Due to recent incessant rains and canal cutting, more than a dozen villages and thousands of bighas of crops have been submerged. Due to this, the affected villagers sat on strike demanding compensation. Meanwhile, XEN Tushar Kant Yadav along with his team reached the village late at night. When the irrigation department team reached the village to inspect the problem, the angry villagers pelted stones at them and beat up the XEN.
Seeing the situation, the entire team of the irrigation department ran away from the spot to save their lives. Senior officials reached the spot after the incident and tried to convince the villagers and calm the situation. Despite this, the anger of the villagers did not cool down. At present, XEN has filed a complaint against some people in the matter.
Regarding this incident, XEN Tushar Kant Yadav said, ‘He had received information that there is a problem of water logging in the village and Sifan drains have become clogged. The District Magistrate (DM) directed him to reach there immediately. When I and my team reached there, the situation became quite uncomfortable. XEN said, “As soon as we arrived, people from two sides got into a heated exchange. When I was trying to install the battery in my car, suddenly two-three people came from behind and attacked me and made me fall down. My shirt also got torn during stone pelting and scuffle. Somehow we ran away from there to save our lives.”
