Sandra Vilar began working as an organizer of wedding ceremonies for other companies until, at the age of 24, she launched into creating her own agency wedding & event planner, as the sector is known. The origin of The Wedding Market dates back to 2014 with a young Vilar who needed to make herself known to attract customers. “To promote myself, I went to specialized fairs, but they didn’t convince me and, with the help of family and some acquaintances, I ended up creating my own contest,” explains the entrepreneur. “I wanted to break with the stereotype of traditional wedding fairs and offer a unique wedding with the latest trends”, adds the founder.
The first edition of The Wedding Market took place in Barcelona in 2016 and, since then, it has been held annually in the Catalan capital until reaching the seventh edition this 2023 (in 2020 it was not held due to the covid pandemic ). “We work with small workshops, to whom we give the opportunity to make themselves known through our fairs,” says Vilar. The last edition of the fair in Barcelona brought together 60 suppliers and about 2,500 promised, according to data from the entrepreneur. “We seek to bring together both newly engaged and newly engaged couples, along with their bridesmaids, family or friends,” says the founder.

This year, The Wedding Market has made the leap to Madrid, on March 11 and 12. The first edition of the fair held outside of Catalonia has brought together some 1,300 people and 45 suppliers. Vilar is already thinking of repeating and expanding to more cities, with Girona as the first destination, this year, and, later on, Palma or Seville. In parallel, the company also organizes meetings between small groups of couples about to get married and some suppliers. On the other hand, the founder has never stopped her original activity: the organization of wedding ceremonies.
Since 2021, Vilar has had the help of Marc Liz Mora and Ángel Almendros Mora, who joined the project.
