Amancio Ortega, founder and president of the Foundation that bears his name, has appointed his wife, Flora Pérez Marcote, who until now held the vice-presidency as the entity’s new president. The businessman will continue to form part of the board of trustees, according to the foundation in a press release. Their daughter, Marta Ortega, president of the Inditex group, will occupy the first vice presidency.
At the foundation, Flora Pérez has carried out “intense work” related to the implementation and development of its programs, mainly in the social area, as well as the institutional representation of the entity, as highlighted in the note. Pérez Marcote joined the board of trustees in March 2003 and assumed its vice-presidency in 2005.
The executive has developed a long professional career at Inditex, with responsibility in areas related to product design and purchase, and has experience as a company administrator since 1992. Since 2005, she has been a member of the Inditex Board of Directors as a representative de Pontegadea, a company of which she is first vice-president. Pontegadea is the firm in which Amancio Ortega has his 60% stake in Inditex deposited and which manages his investments.
The board of trustees is completed by José Arnau Sierra (second vice president), Roberto Cibeira and Pablo Isla (members). Marta Ortega Pérez has been part of the foundation’s board of trustees since 2015.
