The Emirates Women’s Sports Federation, in partnership with the General Sports Authority and the Mubadala Foundation, which manages the community and volunteer activities and initiatives of the Mubadala Investment Company, organized an open sports day as part of the “Positive Energy” initiative, which it launched in the context of seeking to expand the base of collective sports practice, in line with the leadership’s vision. Al-Rashida, who paid special attention to community sports, for its great role in promoting community health and achieving opportunities for sustainable sports development.
The open sports day, which was held at “Active” on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, included a dialogue session presented by Moza Mohammed Al Shamsi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Women’s Sports Federation, in which many female members of the councils of sports federations in the country participated, and a group of female players who participated in discussions about the challenges facing the country. Women face it during their participation in external tournaments and competitions. The importance of community sports in enhancing health status and achieving sustainable sports development opportunities was also highlighted.
An awareness workshop was also organized on correcting the most common misconceptions regarding nutrition and exercise, in cooperation with the 3D Physical Performance Company, and presented by specialists Aden Al-Qadi and Rahma Ali.
The sports day witnessed friendly matches in basketball, volleyball, and bow and arrow, in addition to fitness sessions (yoga and Zumba), in addition to providing sports medical examinations and providing nutritional guidance through specialists from NMC Royal Hospital – Khalifa City.
The Sports Day activities were usually attended by Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Union and President of the Emirates Women’s Sports Federation, Moza Mohammed Al Shamsi and Sheikha Ghanem Al Shamsi, members of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Women’s Sports Federation, and Amal Al Sayegh, member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation.
On this occasion, Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Union and President of the Emirates Women’s Sports Federation, said: “We seek to follow the path of the wise leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, “Mother of the Emirates.” “And their keenness to empower people and invest in them in an optimal way, praising the great support that community sports receive from sports institutions in the country, led by the General Sports Authority, because of its ability to achieve a positive impact on society and promote positive behavior among individuals.”
