At a crowded market, a man went on a rampage with knives. He tried to attack those who were there holding two swords with both hands. The police immediately reached the spot after receiving the information. He did not heed the warnings of the police. The police shot him in the leg with a gun. When the accused fell down, he was beaten with sticks and taken into custody. The incident took place on Sunday (February 5) night in Kalburigi, Karnataka. Locals gathered in large numbers to watch the incident which took place at Cine Fakki. The accused, wearing a black banyan and trousers, stood in the middle of the market and attacked with knives. The police surrounded him and arrested him. A thug tried to attack people with a knife at the market. When the police tried to stop him and take him into custody, he also attacked our police personnel. “For self-defense and public safety, the police fired at the assailant,” said Calburigi City Police Commissioner Chetan. The accused has been identified as ‘Jaffar’. He was taken to hospital for treatment. After recovery, he will be arrested and sent to remand.
