Artists of the Lugansk Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater on Oboronnaya take part in a special operation to protect the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR). In a conversation with Yegor Kildibekov, a correspondent for the Izvestia TV channel, they spoke about their work at the front.
“It seems to me that a creative person has already adjusted to everything. A creative person lacks a stage, that’s all. Sometimes you think – now, I forgot how to sing, I forgot how to read. Although San Sanych [Александр Редя] manages to give concerts here. The guys are happy and smiling. You look at them, and it seems that life is getting better, ”said actor Yevgeny Khaitov.
The artist also thanked his colleagues for sending parcels. They were handed over by the Izvestia film crew.
“Girls, thank you very much. Thank you guys who helped in the first days, the first week. From the heart. The guys handed over the necessary: toothbrushes, everything for everyday life. So we are still fighting. That is, in the first buses that were called up, we understood where we were going, what we were doing, where we would be. We drove, thought about families, ”he said.
The artist clarified that he had no experience of military life – earlier he held a maximum of a dummy machine gun in his hands.
Khaitov also noted that out of 27 theater employees who went to the front line, eight are now in the hospital.
“Our colleague Nikolai Lekhovets, God bless him if he sees. Kolka we are with you. He was paralyzed. He had one seizure on stage, however, he went to fight. And there was a second attack on the positions. Thank God, they took us to Lugansk,” Khaitov said.
Earlier that day, theater actress Natalya Starodubtseva said that the theater artists went to concerts in the liberated territories of Donbass. She noted that everyone in the theater is waiting for the men to return home as soon as possible.
On February 24, the Russian leader announced a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. Then the presidential press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, specified that the special operation had two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. He pointed out that both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
