New Delhi. The Modi government at the Centre can introduce a bill in the Parliament today regarding the amendment in the Waqf Act. Now politics has heated up with the discussion of amendment in the Waqf Act. This bill includes the matter of making amendments in the Waqf Board, which has been opposed by many parties.
Let us tell you that through this, there will be a change in the ownership of Waqf lands. Along with this, women will also be included in the Waqf Board. Although the government has not given any official statement regarding the amendment in the Waqf Act, but the rhetoric has started already. Today is also an important day because the government can present this bill in the Parliament today.
Senior Congress leaders have not yet made any statement regarding the Waqf Board. However, the Muslim leaders of the party are vocal. Congress leader Naseem Khan in Mumbai said that once a Waqf property is always a Waqf property. Amendments to this Act will not be tolerated. Opposition has also started in JDU, an ally of the NDA government. Former JDU MP Ghulam Rasool said that Nitish Kumar should oppose this attempt of the Center.
On the other hand, former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Sharma said that it is the responsibility of the government to remove the irregularities in Waqf properties. At the same time, former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Waqf Board will have to come out of the ‘don’t touch me’ syndrome. If a government is giving its best on inclusive reforms, then a communal attack on this thinking is not right.
