Throughout the day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) continue to shell Donetsk with 155 mm shells. The consequences of the strikes on the city on Thursday, June 23, were shown by Izvestia correspondent Semyon Eremin.
According to the journalist, shells from the positions of the Ukrainian military reach Donetsk in about five seconds.
It is noted that one of the fragments of ammunition pierced the wheel of the car of our film crew. The correspondent also recorded a direct hit of a shell in a residential building.
On the same day, Semyon Yeremin showed on video the shelling of a residential building in Donetsk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He expressed the hope that the tenants managed to go down to the basement.
Also on Thursday, it was reported that one person died when the Ukrainian army shelled the Church of the Holy Royal Martyrs in the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk.
On Thursday morning, the Kyiv district of Donetsk also came under fire. On June 23, from 08:25 to 08:55, the Ukrainian military launched four artillery strikes on Donetsk. During this half hour, they fired 27 shells into the city.
Earlier, on June 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the line of demarcation created eight years ago under the city is a serious Ukrainian fortified area, the storming of which will lead to heavy casualties from the attacking forces. In this regard, it is not advisable to storm the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Donetsk, systematic work is underway to enter the rear of the fortified areas.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the DPR and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR). It was preceded by an aggravation of the situation in the region, an appeal by the leadership of the Donbass republics to the Russian Federation with a request for help, and the subsequent recognition by Russia of the independence of the DPR and LPR.
