The world of cumbia went into mourning last Sunday, November 3, with the sudden death of the singer Thalía Manrique Castillo. One day after the terrible event on the Fernando Belaúnde highway, in Bagua, Amazonas; the National Police of Peru has managed to identify one of those responsible for the murder of the vocalist of the group Hermanos Guerrero. This was confirmed by a relative of the deceased victim.
Thalía Manrique’s brother breaks his silence
Jair Manrique brother of the murdered vocalist, reported that the Police have already identified one of the criminals and that they are in contact with the prosecutor so that the necessary actions can be taken. Likewise, he confirmed that they are waiting for the arrest warrant from the prosecutor.
“Right now the owner of the group, Mr. Walter Ángeles, just called me, that the National Police has already identified that criminal and they are waiting for the prosecutor to issue the arrest warrant and justice be done once and for all” , declared for RPP.
Likewise, the young man ruled out that the Hermanos Guerrero group had received extortion threats before the assault, which occurred on the highway to Ñunya Jalca, around 5 in the morning on November 3.
“What I was able to speak with other representatives of said company, I have asked if they have suddenly had extortionate messages, but they tell me no, that they have never gone through that. They have never called them, they have threatened them, nothing, they have been working, as they say, normally, calmly,” he added.
What was the attack against Thalía Manrique like?
Jair Manrique said that his sister was shot twice, one in the leg and another in the back, during the assault. After the attack, the criminals threw his body into a ditch. “They have started shooting in the air. They have gone up, there have been about six or seven, one person has had a gun. My sister got nervous, she wanted to go into the bathroom, they shot her in the leg and another in the back. Then they threw it into a ditch,” he explained.
After the attack, Thalía was rushed to the Santiago Apóstol hospital in Bagua Grande, but unfortunately she did not manage to survive. The artistic community and family members hope that justice will be done for this heinous crime.
What happened to Thalía Manrique?
Thalía Manrique, 27, was the victim of an assault in the Amazonas region, where she was shot in the abdomen during an attack on her bus. The young woman, mother of a nine-year-old child and Administration student, left an irreparable void in her family and in the musical world.
The tragic event occurred on the highway that connects the town center of Ñunya Jalca with other districts of the province of Utcubamba. The Hermanos Guerrero orchestra had finished a concert at the school in the San Martín de Porres town center, celebrating its 44th anniversary, when the bus was intercepted by six armed criminals.
Witnesses reported that the assailants forced the occupants to get out of the vehicle to steal the money and musical instruments.
