Devotees from all over come to Tirumala for darshan of Lord Tirumala. Devotees alighting at Tirupati reach Tirumala from there and visit the Seven Hills. Devotees stay in Tirupati and visit many scenic spots around Tirumala. The abode of Vishnu was built for such pilgrims.
TTD has constructed Vishnunivasam rooms near Tirupati bus stand for Sri Venkateswara Swamy devotees. To reduce the number of pilgrims in Tirumala, accommodation rooms have been constructed in the name of Vishnu’s abode. Lockers are also available here to store pilgrims’ luggage bags and cell phones. But the devotees are alleging that thieves broke into this abode of Vishnu built for the comfort of pilgrims.
Phones and luggage of pilgrims staying at Vishnu Niwas are disappearing. It seems that about 20 phones have fallen into the hands of thieves in recent times. Thieves are showing off while the devotees who have reached Alasi Solasi Vishnu Nivasam are asleep. Pilgrims sleep at night with their luggage out while the lockers are filled with the rush of devotees. It is at this time that the thieves are accused of stealing.
Even on Thursday, the phones of some pilgrims went missing. The devotees approached the police. It is alleged that the staff of Vishnu Nivasam is not responding properly despite informing them. It is said that CCTV cameras have been installed but the maintenance is minimal.
