Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the current year’s Aippasi festival at the Thiruvananthapuram Padmanabha Swamy Temple, a parivet event took place at the Sundaravilasam Palace area yesterday. The Aaratu program which is the main event of the festival will be held today.
For this purpose, decorated vehicles of Padmanabha Swamy, Narasimha Murthy and Krishna will leave from the Padmanabha Swamy temple in the fort to the east.
In this case, Thiruvananthapuram Airport will be closed today from 4 pm to 9 pm to facilitate the procession passing through the runway of the airport. Airport officials told ‘Hindu Tamil Vektik’ daily:
The airport was established in 1932 across the parade route. Since then, to facilitate the procession, we have been closing the airstrip during the procession. Moreover, when the procession comes through our runway, the central industrial security forces will stand on both sides to provide security on behalf of the airport.
Adityavarma, the current head of the Travancore dynasty, goes ahead with a sword in the procession. We have informed about this a week in advance for the flights coming to Thiruvananthapuram from different parts of the world. The airport is closed for 5 hours during the Aaradu of Panguni and Aipasi festivals. Officials said.
