Tommy Portugal recently appeared on the Willax program ‘A day at the mall’, in which he addressed his media conflict with Deyvis Orosco. In his statements, the singer assured that the ‘Bomboncito de la cumbia’ tried to appropriate one of his songs, in addition to expressing an attitude of superiority compared to his colleagues in the genre.
Salsera Mafer’s father, who has been part of the cumbia world for years, did not hide his discomfort about the situation and made it clear that he prefers to avoid any contact with Deyvis Orosco . “Each one for their own better,” concluded the singer, reaffirming his position in the face of this conflict.
Tommy Portugal assures that Deyvis Orozco feels superior to others
During the interview, Tommy Portugal was forceful when referring to the personality of Deyvis Orosco, who, according to him, considers himself above other artists of the same genre. “I feel like he thinks he’s at the top level and that we’re at the bottom. “That’s what he thinks, not what he really is,” declared Portugal.
The singer also highlighted that this attitude is noticeable even in everyday conversations. “With a simple conversation you can realize what his way of being is,” he added, suggesting that not only him, but also other artists in the medium, share a similar opinion about Deyvis Orosco.
The tension between the two was evident recently when they coincided on Ernesto Pimentel’s program. According to Tommy Portugal, there was no greeting between them. “The last time we crossed paths was recently and just then, we didn’t greet each other,” he said.
Tommy Portugal accused Deyvis Orosco of trying to “download” a song
As recalled, Tommy Portugal revealed his rivalry with Deyvis Orosco after the conflict that arose over the song ‘Love and Hate’, a song popularized by the late Johnny Orosco, leader of Grupo Néctar. According to Portugal, the situation became tense when ‘Bomboncito de la cumbia’ tried to prevent him from performing the song again, even seeking to obtain exclusive rights to the song.
In the recent interview, Tommy Portugal referred to Deyvis Orosco: “He tried to download the song for me, I always said that. Thank God, the composer did not agree to that,” explained the singer, describing this act as a reprehensible attitude. He also referenced a similar incident involving Bill Orosco, Deyvis’ cousin, and emphasized that there is enough room in cumbia for everyone. “In the end, the public decides, there is an audience for everyone,” he stressed.
