Tongo is veiled at the Mincul headquarters
The Ministry of Culture regretted the departure of Tongo at the age of 65 and, in its statement, announced that it opened the doors to the singer so that he can be veiled at its headquarters. Followers of the interpreter showed up there to say goodbye to him and to be able to dedicate a few words to him. He had been admitted to the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital when he died.
The place was attended by well-known figures from the show business and the Peruvian media such as Rossy War, Manolo Rojas and Ernesto Pimentel. “One of the most important recognitions of Tongo is not in social networks, in which he has been a forerunner with plaques that recognize his number of followers, but in having kept his family together with the effort, as a singer,” said the American TV host.
“I have Tongo as a teacher, as a musician, as a creator. (About his wife) I always saw them together, always everywhere. His children are going to continue that legacy, because there are already artists in the family,” added Manolo Rojas.
What disease did Tongo have?
The Peruvian singer had suffered from a terminal illness for several years. This led to him being constantly admitted to the hospital. Renal failure was the disease that overwhelmed him and prevented him from performing his urinary functions. Months ago, he said through tears that he couldn’t take it anymore.
