Chennai: The 44th Chess Olympiad will be held from July 28 to August 10 at Mahabalipuram near Chennai. In this context, the International Chess Federation and the All India Chess Federation have decided to launch the Chess Olympiad torch relay.
The Olympiad torch relay will no longer take place each time before the start of the Olympiad competition. The torch will travel to all continents, starting from India, where chess originated, and before reaching the city where the competition will take place. According to the International Chess Federation, the torch relay will be limited to India and the route and date will be announced soon.
