Digital Desk, Addis Ababa. According to health officials, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa has reached 9,519,699.
The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said that the death toll currently stands at 227,708 across the continent, while the number of recoveries has risen to 8,556,200, Xinhua news agency reported.
South Africa has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the continent with 3,417,318, the health agency said, followed by Morocco (956,410). Southern Africa is the most affected region, followed by the northern and eastern parts of the continent, while Central Africa is the least affected.
