Tottenham Hotspur recovered from the effects of its resounding 1-6 loss to host Newcastle United in its last Premier League match, and snatched a point from the lion’s mouth, following its exciting 2-2 draw with its guest Manchester United on Thursday in the 33rd stage of the competition.
Tottenham, who maintained their slim hopes of being among the first four qualifying places for the Champions League next season, rose to 54 points in fifth place after playing 33 matches, noting that it achieved a single victory in its last six matches in the championship.
On the other hand, Manchester United, who won their past three matches in the competition, remained in fourth place with 59 points, after playing only 31 matches in the championship.
Manchester United took the lead with an early goal, signing Jadon Sancho in the seventh minute, before his teammate Marcus Rashford added the second goal in the 44th minute.
Tottenham rose up in the second half, to equalize after his Spanish stars Pedro Porro and South Korean Heung-min Son scored two goals in the 56th and 79th minutes, respectively.
