Tourism Key: Thailand Waives Visa For Indians After Change In Cannabis Law

Thailand has come up with a new offer to attract Indian tourists. Indians can visit the country without a visa from November 10 to May 10. Thailand is now the fifth most visited foreign country from India. According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism last year, 9.3 lakh tourists from India visited Thailand.

Earlier, Thailand had announced visa-free entry for Chinese tourists as well. After this, India has also been excluded. Thailand’s tourism, which suffered a major setback during the Covid period, is reviving. The government aims to accelerate this.

Thailand’s tourism season is about to begin. A visa-free visit of six months is allowed based on this season.

Apart from the collapse of tourism during the Covid period, Thailand is facing some other setbacks in the economic field. There has been a significant decline in exports in the country. There has been a significant increase in the number of tourists from India since 2011. In 2011, 1.4 crore people went abroad for leisure travel, while in 2019 it increased to 2.7 crore. But with the arrival of the Covid pandemic, it has completely fallen. Later in 2022, things came to a head. 2.1 crore has again increased to foreign excursions. It would be to Thailand’s advantage to exploit this situation.

UAE is currently the country with the highest number of Indian visitors. 59 lakh people visited UAE last year. 24 lakh tourists from India went to Saudi Arabia. 17 lakh tourists traveled to USA. 9.9 lakh to Singapore. 9.3 lakh people went to Thailand. The UK, Qatar, Kuwait, Canada and Oman come next.

In 2019, about four crore visitors came to Thailand. From January to October 2023, 2.2 crore people have arrived in Thailand. Otherwise, the country’s tourism has still not been able to grow to the same level as before the covid.

Thailand is one of the countries where Indian passport holders have visa on arrival. If you go there, you will get a visa. It cost 2,200 Thai currency. This cost will no longer exist. That means you can save Rs. 5,100. It means that you just need to buy a ticket.

Indian tourists can stay in the country for thirty days. At the same time, Thailand has given the same permission to Russia. They will be allowed to stay in the country without a visa for up to 90 days. This freebie is valid till April 2024.
