The game in the RTL 4 hit The traitors looks completely different since Friday night. A great tastemaker suddenly disappeared from the scene, after which one of the traitors wrongly believed himself safe, with emotions as a result. Warning: This article contains spoilers.
Like her or not, Youtuber Selma Omari (28) has been undeniably one of the biggest trendsetters ever in recent weeks. The traitors. She was faithful to the game, which sometimes seemed like a real life mission to her.
If she thought she had a traitor in her sights, she wouldn’t rest until she convinced the rest of the group and banished the person at the round table. Verbal blood dripped from the walls several times after her ruthless arguments, but what helped: sometimes she was completely right.
That makes her ideal for beautiful television, but a danger for the saboteurs, the remaining traitors Sander Huisman and Jan Slagter also realized. They decided to kill her, and with that the fire at the heart of the game changed character. You could burn yourself with it last week, now you could especially warm yourself with it, it turned out during the round table at the end of the episode.
That’s where Omroep Max boss Jan Slagter’s nightmare came true. He had hoped so much that he was safe, that he had convinced enough people that Ferri Somogyi was the one doing the trick and that the group should be banished. ,,You are completely wrong”, Jan said, when it turned out that even co-traitor Sander saved himself by voting for him as well. John’s plan failed. The group mainly bore him with a slip of the tongue from the morning, in which he accidentally spoke of ‘I’ in the context of traitors.
What now?
While most of the group chose to banish him, the players didn’t do so nearly as fiercely as Selma would have. The farewell of the doyen, the éminence grise, as Pernille La Lau called him, was loving and empathetic. Because Jan was tired, he said emotionally. He had to be silent for a moment to hold back the tears. Tired from being on all day and night.
,,I was faithful”, Jan said to the group after his exile. “And I’ve become a traitor.”
A wave of joy went through the group. In his last conversation with the camera, tears were behind Jan’s eyes. “They are beautiful people, really. You don’t have to play not to lose, you have to play to win. Then you have to stick your neck out every now and then and dare to do something. Then you are really, in my eyes, a winner.”
With Jan out of the game, there was only one traitor left: Sander. He therefore had to ‘blackmail’ someone of the faithful, or force him to join him. Who did he choose to form the ultimate duo? His brother and fellow Kris Kross Amsterdam member Jordy.
