The Dubai World Marathon Organizing Committee, in its 22nd edition, announced the completion of the preparations for the launch of the event, which will be held next Sunday morning, most notably the transportation of the participants in the marathon free of charge to facilitate their participation and the success of the event, as the metro is scheduled to start from four in the morning until their return before two in the afternoon.
The Organizing Committee said, in a press statement, that those wishing to participate in any of the three events can register online via the official website of the event, with the start of the countdown to the start of the race.
The statement added that the Ethiopian champions will have the upper hand on the Dubai Marathon track, as is the case in the women’s race, with the participation of the best male elite runners who will compete for the title.
Tsegai Mekonnen, the 2014 Dubai Marathon Champion, boasts a personal best time of 2:04:32, as Mekonnen will face a number of talented and experienced compatriots, including 2022 Rome Marathon winner Vikker Bekele and Lens, and former Rotterdam Marathon champion Abera Coma. , and Ghebresadeq Abraha, winner in Marrakech, Prague, Quanzhou and finally in Ljubljana.
Competitors will face a challenging new 42.195km course that will take them from the expanse of Dubai Expo City to some of the city’s most modern highways, passing through Dubai Investments Park and Jumeirah Golf Estates, before returning to finish the marathon in front of the famous Al Wasl Dome.
The staff of the main international referees arrived from England, along with the arrival of male and female runners participating in the elite 10 kilo races. The main cabin around the dome was prepared for the fans, which can accommodate 6,000 people, and the construction of the VIP suites, media professionals, referees and ambulances was completed.
The organizing committee decided to choose the route for the public race, which is 10 km long, and the family race, which is 4 km long, inside the Expo City campus, while the main marathon route was chosen to take place around the city, with a distance of 42.195 km.
The Dubai International Marathon, which enjoys great support from the Dubai Council, is one of the fastest international long-distance running races, which attracts elite athletes from all over the world.
