The post fell vacant following the retirement of Justice Dhirubhai Naranbhai Patel, who served as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. In March, Justice Vipin Sanghi was appointed interim CJ. As part of the transfers, he was appointed CJ of the Uttarakhand High Court.
Satish Chandra was born on November 30, 1961 in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. In 1979, Dr. Hari Singh joined Gaur University for his B.Sc. He graduated in 1981 with distinction in three subjects.
Justice Ujjal Bhuyan was born on August 2, 1964 in Guwahati. His father, Suchendra Nath Bhuyan, a senior lawyer, served as the Advocate General of Assam. Justice Bhuyan was educated at Don Bosco School in Guwahati and later at Cotton College. Graduated from Kirori Mall College, Delhi. Justice Bhuyan did LLB in Guwahati Government Law College. He studied LLM in Guwahati University. In October 2011, he was appointed Additional Judge of the Guwahati High Court. He was transferred as a Bombay High Court judge in 2019. He later took over as a judge of the Telangana High Court on October 22, 2021. Justice Bhuyal is also the Executive Chairman of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority.
