Young Tunisian international midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has ended his adventure with Manchester United by moving to Burnley on a four-year contract, the two clubs announced.
“Hannibal has completed a permanent transfer from Manchester United to Championship side Burnley,” United said. “The 21-year-old joins the Clarets after five years with United.”
Burnley FC are delighted to confirm the arrival of Tunisian international Hannibal Mejbri on a four-year deal from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
The Tunisian joined United’s youth teams in 2019 from Monaco, and has since made just 13 appearances for the first team, scoring one long-range goal in 2023 in a 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.
In the 2022-23 season, Al-Majbri played in the second tier with Birmingham on loan, then spent the second half of last season in Spain on loan to Sevilla, where he participated in six league matches.
The Tunisian thanked United in a post on his X website, saying: “It has been an honour to have played for this great club for the past five years. I leave with so many special memories, from making my debut at Old Trafford to representing United in the Champions League.”
“I will always be grateful to the many staff and players who helped me develop as a player and grow from a young boy to the man I am today,” he continued.
Burnley were relegated to the second tier at the end of last season, after finishing 19th in the Premier League, second from bottom.
