Turkish media reported that the famous Turkish chef, Burak Ozdemir, had filed a lawsuit against his father for “fraud”.
The reason, according to the local newspaper “Yeni Shafak”, is that Burak’s father decided to sell the branch of his successful restaurant in Istanbul without his knowledge or approval to a foreign businessman.
In his first statements, the owner of the “CZN Burak” chain of restaurants pointed out that this restaurant was “a successful institution in which he made great efforts.”
He confirmed that his father initially denied selling the restaurant, and tried to hide the truth from him, but after investigations and information from witnesses, it became clear that he had already sold it.
Relations began to become strained between Burak and his father after the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey in February 2023, when the father then tried to obstruct the arrival of aid provided by Burak to the areas affected by the earthquake, which prompted him to sever all ties with him.
According to Turkish newspapers, the first session is scheduled to take place during the month of September in the Adliya “Caglayan”.
The chef, who has gained wide fame over the past years, was keen to confirm that his only restaurant in Istanbul is located in the Istanbul Valley area.
He posted several times on Instagram, warning of thieves trying to exploit his name and image.
Burak expressed his disappointment in his father, whom he considered a role model in his life.
He called on shops using his name and image to remove signs.
On the other hand, the father of the chef, who was famous for his talent in the culinary arts, confirmed that he was facing a financial crisis and found that the solution to save his personal interests was to sell the shop.
He apologized after admitting his mistake for the harm done to his son.
