Two more people have been rescued in Turkey 296 hours after the devastating earthquakes; a man and a woman. They were, according to state news agency Anadolu freed from a collapsed building in the city of Antakya.
Television images show people being taken to ambulances by rescuers. The news agency says the 40-year-old woman is conscious, nothing is known about the condition of the man. Rescuers also pulled a 12-year-old alive from the rubble, but that child later died.
They have been trapped since last Monday’s earthquakes, which killed at least 45,000 people. Only fewer than 200 places are being searched for survivors. A Dutch team that also joined the search has now returned to our country.
Earlier on Saturday it also appeared that former Vitesse footballer Christian Atsu was found dead under the rubble in his hometown Antakya, which was hit hard by the earthquakes.
Last Tuesday, a day after the strong earthquakes, the Ghana Football Association reported that 31-year-old Atsu had been found alive under the rubble. His trainer and agent later contradicted this.
