As a result of the shelling of the Chervonogvardeisky district of Makeevka, two people were killed, according to the Telegram channel of the territorial defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
“As a result of the shelling of the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine – Ed.) in the Chervonogvardeisky district of Makeevka the death toll rose to 2 people, 3 more civilians were injured,” the publication says.
The headquarters reported that the shelling was carried out with the help of the installation of the Grad MLRS.
In recent weeks, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have stepped up shelling of Donetsk. So, on June 25, as a result of the shelling of the city, a resident of the Petrovsky district was killed. The day before, it became known that a child who had been seriously injured in the shelling of the same area had died in the hospital.
On June 23, a man died during the shelling of a temple in Donetsk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And on June 22, the republic reported the death of a young woman and her baby in the village of Rivnopol, Volnovakha district. They died after a direct hit of ammunition in a residential building.
On June 20, VFU shelled the territory of the DPR 44 times, firing 320 rounds of ammunition. As a result, 11 civilians were injured, including a child.
On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. The operation began against the backdrop of the situation in the Donbass that worsened in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians in the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
