Member of the Board of Directors of the Football Association, Chairman of the Competitions Committee, Ahmed bin Darwish, revealed that they submitted two proposals for first-division clubs to choose the appropriate date for the start of competitions in the new season. Bin Darwish told “Emirates Today”: “The opportunity given to clubs to respond to these two proposals will end today.”
Regarding the details of the workshop that the competition committee recently held with first-class clubs, Bin Darwish said: “During this workshop, the clubs were given full details regarding the participation of national and foreign players in the competition, and there is no change in the competition system.”
He added, “During the workshop, complete proposals were also presented to the first-class clubs regarding the full competition list, participation in the President’s Cup, the first league agenda, the proposed dates for the start and end of the competition, in addition to how the programs related to licensing first-class clubs.”
And whether there will be new changes at the level of the first-class competition during the next season, the head of the competitions committee said: “There will be no change, because the amendments that were made to the competition in the last period are excellent, and we do not want to change them, but rather preserve the gains that were made during last season.”
And whether there are new amendments to the system for the President’s Cup competition during the next season, the head of the Competitions Committee said: “There will be new ideas, especially in terms of organization, but as a competition in general it will be the same, and we are studying a proposal that was discussed with clubs regarding the possibility of holding a competition.” The President’s Cup for the next season, starting with the Round of 16 instead of the Round of 32, as was the case previously, taking into account the conditions for the external participation of clubs and the national team, whether at the level of the AFC Champions League for clubs or the 2023 Asian Cup finals scheduled in Qatar during the period from January 12 to Next February 10th.
And Ahmed bin Darwish concluded: “With regard to the second and third division league competitions, there is no change in matters related to the two competitions, but rather we seek to preserve the current system regarding the holding of the two competitions, and work to develop it in the future.”
A proposal to start the amateur league on September 30 until May 19.
