In July 2020, Lauren McGregor lost her husband, Chris, to a brain tumor. This diagnosis was a big challenge to their desire to have a baby. Nearly two years after Chris’ death, Lauren has now regained that joy by giving birth to her late husband’s baby. The woman, a native of Liverpool, became pregnant through IVF using her husband’s semen. Lauren became pregnant with sperm stored by Chris. She was ready for the experiment when her husband died before she could start IVF treatment. She gave birth on May 17 through C-section.
I did not want to introduce Seb by showing him a photo of his father because I felt like they had previous acquaintances with each other. Lauren said Chris has given me a part of his life wherever he is now.
Seb to see him as his father. “His hair and lips are like Chris’,” Lauren said in an interview with an international media outlet.
Sarah Schellenberger from the US is another woman who has given birth to such a baby.
Sarah, 41, lost her husband in February 2020 to a heart attack. The woman, who was struggling to have children, had started IVF treatment before her husband’s death and was still alive. They kept two embryos as part of the treatment. In May 2021, she gave birth to a baby boy using one of these. The second embryo was created seven days before Scott’s death. Now Sarah is going to use it to give birth to her second child. This also means that I am hoping to be able to successfully give birth to a second miracle baby
