According to information, Cao Bang, Lao Cai and Yen Bai are the most affected provinces of Vietnam, where 111, 43 and 49 people have died. According to the city’s steering committee for disaster prevention, control, search and rescue, the flood water of the Red River in the capital Hanoi has come down from warning level 1 to 3. People evacuated from the flood have returned to their homes, while the army has been deployed to clean up the flood-affected areas.
A three-day clean-up operation will be launched for the UNESCO World Heritage Ha Long Bay in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh, hit by the typhoon. Tourist boats officially resumed normal operations at the heritage site on Friday, nearly a week after it was devastated by Typhoon Yagi, according to the Vietnam News Agency. The Vietnam Fatherland Front announced that as of Friday noon, its relief fund had received 775.5 billion won ($31.5 million) in donations from people across the country to aid those affected by Typhoon Yagi.
Millions of children have lost their homes and are unable to access clean water, sanitation and healthcare, the UN children’s agency (UNICEF) said in a statement. Nearly two million children are deprived of education, psychological support and school feeding programmes because schools are damaged and affected by lack of electricity and water.
