The project started last January. The time to join the scheme was renewed several times. The deadline had expired last October. A fine of AED 400 will be levied on those who do not register for the scheme and AED 200 on those who fail to pay the premium on time after registration.
Work permit will not be renewed for those who do not join the scheme. Failure to pay penalty may be deducted from employee’s salary or post-service benefits. So far, more than 67 lakh people have registered under the unemployment insurance scheme in the country. Eligible for financial compensation up to three months in case of job loss. New entrants are required to enroll in job loss insurance within four months. This condition is applicable to those who joined the job this year. It is calculated from the date of entry into the UAE, the date of issue of a work permit or the date of change of status. The employer is not responsible for this as it is the employee who has to take the policy. However, the Ministry’s website has an option to register employees if the employer so desires.
Those who want to get more compensation in case of job loss can choose the policy scheme accordingly. Disciplinary dismissal is not severance pay. Pay 60 percent of this amount by calculating the basic salary received for the last six months and calculating the average monthly salary from it.
