UAE women’s team beats Namibia in Chess Olympiad

The UAE women’s chess team defeated its Namibian counterpart 3-1 in the fourth round of the World Chess Olympiad, currently being held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, with the participation of 190 countries.

The team won this match after players Wafiya Al-Maamari defeated Raha Shibindo with the black pieces, Maryam Issa defeated Nicole Jami, and Zainab Al-Maamari defeated Kamato Tjadendi, while Anoud Issa lost on the third board.

With this victory, the UAE national team raised its score to four points, and will face the Haiti national team in the fifth round.

In the men’s competition, our team lost to its Moldovan counterpart by half a point to 3.5 points.
