Kiev (EFE).- The Ukrainian Army today confirmed the presence of its troops in the town of Robotine in the southern province of Zaporizhia, after various military spokesmen reported progress in recent days with this town occupied until now by Russia .
“Our fighters are in the town of Robotine,” Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavski, commander of the strategic operational group of the Ukrainian forces in charge of the southeastern area of the front, wrote on his Telegram account on Tuesday.
Tarnavski’s terse message is accompanied by a photograph of a Ukrainian soldier saluting defiantly as he leans out of a tank hatch.
Shortly before the military command published this message, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Armed Forces Andry Kovalov reported on the progress of the Kiev troops in the Robotine area, where Ukrainian soldiers “strengthen”, he said, the recovered positions.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a private American institution that follows the course of the conflict, had confirmed early on Tuesday using geolocated images that Ukrainian troops have reached the center of Robotine.
kyiv tries to advance to the Azov Sea
The town of Robotine is located in one of the three segments of the front of the counteroffensive that has been going on since the beginning of June.
Kiev troops try to advance to the Sea of Azov in the direction of the occupied city of Melitopol, with the aim of cutting off the continuity of the territory occupied by Russia in southern Ukraine.
In addition to this part of Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukrainian forces have gone on the offensive in the Bakhmut area of the eastern Donetsk province and in the south-western part of Donetsk, from where they seek to advance towards the occupied port of Mariupol, in the Sea of Azov.
