Ukraine’s first deputy agriculture minister, Taras Vysotsky, said Monday that the grain harvest in 2022 will be about 48.5 million tons.
Last year’s crop was about 86 million tons, but Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 of this year, and Vysotsky said that the total area planted in Ukraine decreased by 25%, in 2022.
Vysotsky added in a press briefing that the exportable surplus in the 2022-2023 season may reach 30 million tons, explaining that the wheat crop will range between 17 and 20 million tons.
